Ex-Militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has denied links with militants who are threatening more attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta. Tompolo said in a statement by his media consultant, Mr. Paul Bebenimibo, on Sunday, that he did not send any group of persons to attack oil installations because of his case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The Nigeria Police, Bayelsa State Command has disclosed the arrest of a 38-year-old pastor and six others over the alleged rape of a 11-year-old girl and two 8-year-old. The state Commissioner of Police, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, made the disclosure while parading the suspects at the command in Yenagoa. According to the reports, the cleric identified as Ogbomo Jerry, reportedly lured the victim to his office at Aduleama in Amassoma community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state and raped her. Niger Delta militants have renewed their threat to blow up more oil facilities in the region if the Federal Government do not drop the charges against a former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has since declared Tompolo wanted in February over an alleged N45.9bn fraud and charged him to court in absentia. The youths, on the aegis of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, worldwide, said Bayelsa State was not considered in the promotion exercise in which the South-South was allocated 20 slots out of the 109 managers elevated to the position of General Managers. The IYC wondered why Bayelsa State, with five qualified managers in the NNPC, would be left out of the promotion exercise in which Delta had 8, Cross River 4, Edo 4, Akwa Ibom 2 and Rivers 2.
